Revved Basics:
Will Revved speed up everything I do online?
Revved accelerates certain text and graphics sent over the Internet. With
Revved you will notice a significantly faster experience when you
visit web sites since the bulk of all webpages are made of simple text and
images. Sending and receiving POP email will also be accelerated for Windows
users but not for Mac users. Revved will not accelerate file downloads
such as music files, streaming media or shareware.
How fast is Revved?
The exact amount of acceleration can vary but with Revved you will
notice a significantly faster experience when you visit web sites,
read your POP email (Windows only) and perform many other
web-based activities.
Download and Installation Help:

You can find instructions and links for downloading and
installing Revved onto your computer here.
I downloaded the Revved installer but now I can't find it on my computer. Where is it?

"setup.exe" (without quotes). If you still can't find it, contact Customer

Using Revved:
How do I start Revved?
For Windows users, Revved is launched automatically every time your computer
starts. Mac users will need to start the Revved application in their
Applications folder after they dial-up. The Revved icon appears in the
Windows system tray or OSX dock to show that it is operating in the
background.
How do I change the image quality setting for a particular image?
Windows users can right-click on an image within Internet Explorer and
select "Show Original Image" allows you to view the original image. All
other users will need to temporarily disable the accelerator or change
their "Image Quality" slider to best quality.
How do I change the image quality setting for all images?
Windows users can right-click on the Revved icon in the lower right of
their screen. Mac OS X users can click on the Revved icon in their dock
to bring the Revved window forward. Select "Settings" and then select the
"Image Quality" tab. Adjust the slider bar to the desired image quality
setting. Press OK to save the changes.
Using Other Web Browsers:
Can I use Revved with Netscape Navigator?
Yes. Revved should work with most browsers automatically including
Netscape Navigator.
Can I use Revved with other browsers such as Opera or Mozilla?
Yes, but you may need to manually set the HTTP proxy host setting to be
"localhost" and the port number to be "5400" (without quotes).
This setting is located in your browser's preferences. Consult your browser's
documentation for additional information.
Known Issues:
What software may be incompatible with Revved?
A number of available software titles may interfere with Revved's ability to
install or function properly. These titles include:
-
Virus Detection Software
Some
virus detection software may incorrectly believe that the Revved client
is a virus when installing. If this occurs, just disable your virus
software during the install of Revved.
-
Spyware and Pop-up Blockers
Some spyware detectors and
pop-up blockers may incorrectly identify Revved as spyware or cripple
its ability to function properly. If you don't know how to override
this software to ignore Revved (called "white-listing"), please contact
our technical support department for assistance.
-
Personal Firewalls
If you are running a hardware or
software firewall to protect your PC and/or network, you will need to
open port "5400" to allow Revved to communicate with our servers.
How do I start ICN now that I'm using Revved?
Revved includes a pop-up blocker built in. Because ICN uses a pop-up window
this window may not appear when you try to start it because Revved is
blocking it from opening. You can either temporarily disable Revved's
pop-up blocker or tell Revved to allow all popups from our websites.
Why does my downstream "Bandwidth Savings Ratio" go below 1.0?
Accelerating your bandwidth channel incurs a small amount of transmission
overhead. In most cases, this overhead is negligible when compared to the
actual bandwidth savings provided by Revved.
However, strange interactions between Internet Explorer and certain
plugins (such as the old versions of the Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin) may
cause documents to be unnecessarily downloaded twice. It is important to
note that this type of behavior occurs regardless of whether Revved
is used. Revved is merely showing the download statistics in
these situations.
Why do some Java applets (like games at pogo.com) not work?
Older versions of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) cannot display certain
image types (such as 'PNG'). To fix this problem, simply set your image
slider to the maximum quality level or upgrade to the newest Java Runtime Engine available.
